Acuatus is a boutique intellectual property law firm and European trade mark agency founded in 2016.  We offer personalised representation by senior intellectual property practitioners and litigation solicitors who have international experience in both commercial and IP dispute work.  Our aim is to provide a “big firm” level of expertise and service but on a personalised and cost-effective basis.

In our contentious practice we represent multi-national and Irish clients alike in many of the leading intellectual property cases in this jurisdiction.  Our non-contentious practice includes advising on all IP rights in the context of commercial transactions and developing and implementing global brand protection programmes through our associated trade mark agency.

We are actively involved in in the practice of intellectual property and the development of IP policy at both a national and an international level through our membership of a range of intellectual property committees and associations.  As a result of these activities we can rely upon a network of trusted associates that enables us to represent multinationals and SME clients in IP protection and enforcement matters both across Europe and worldwide.

    Alistair Payne

    Alistair-Payne

    Alistair is the founding principal of the firm and has over thirty years’ experience in intellectual property practice. An IP partner in one of the large Irish law firms for 13 years and prior to that in two of the national Australian legal firms, Alistair holds an LLM (Int. Prop.) from the University of London and a BA/LLB from the University of Auckland.  He is admitted as a solicitor in Ireland, England, Australia and New Zealand and is a European trade mark attorney. Alistair is a member of various international IP organisations, including INTA, AIPPI, PTMG, APRAM, TIPLO and the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Society of Ireland and is a World Intellectual Property Organisation domain name dispute resolution panellist.
