João is a specialised lawyer in IT, media and advertising matters, with more than 20 years of experience. He is a leading figure in the Portuguese TMT legal community and is ranked by both leading directories of the legal profession (i.e. Chambers and Partners and Legal 500). João also appears listed in Who’s Who Legal (Data Privacy and Protection). He acts for one of the largest media & advertising groups of companies in the world, and for a well-known international group of companies owned by an automotive corporation engaged in  the  provision  of  services  through digital platforms, including the booking and hiring of taxis services and e-scooter sharing. João recently advised the aviation industry cluster of a German Metropolitan Region on relevant IPR and contractual issues in relation to R&D projects (e.g. R&D contracts, JV and consortiums agreements) with Portuguese companies, R&D-facilities and universities. João is the author of the first Portuguese “Law Dictionary of Advertising” published by Megameios in 1996. He is also the co-author of the Portuguese Chapters of “Getting the Deal Through – Telecoms and Media 2014” and the “Comparative Handbook: Robotic Technologies Law” published by Larcier Group. João fully understands the different legal, ethical, infrastructural and technical issues and challenges facing IP and IT legal matters. He also has extensive first-hand knowledge of the IT market in Portugal and in the European Union, since he serves as external legal counsel for several well-known IT companies. João is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
